FRIDAY 10 JUNE. The 20-25 knot forecast wind has been extended for another three days. The rain is expected to start tomorrow. Plenty of time to complete the first Epistle. Trouble is, the phone doesn’t work here so we can’t send emails or update the website. |
Pearl Bay is one of the prettiest anchorages on the coast—lovely beaches on one side and the scattered Hervey Islands on the other make it a very intimate and inviting setting. The rugged mountains to the west are often silhouetted against magnificent sunsets. And no bugs!! |

ISLAND HEAD CREEK |
Island Head Creek is rimmed to the west by high mountains. The wildlife is prolific, the fish too. Last night we heard a sizzling sound around the boat. We went outside and shone the torch onto the water. It erupted. Thousands of Garfish burst from the surface, frightened by the light. Everywhere we shone the torch the surface of the sea boiled and long thin slivers of silver launched themselves into the air, arcing down or tail walking tens of metres at a time. Spectacular! |
