We returned to the resort and walked the Secret Garden track, which passes through lovely rainforest and tangles of moss- and lichen-covered boulders. We tried to block out the music wafting its way up from the funky cafes along the waterfront. |

28 – 29 AUGUST. It was a relief to escape from the fishing fleet and sail in light winds for Upolu Cay, a little patch of sand in a vast area of coral reef about 17 miles north of Cairns. Once the day trippers left, we had the entire place to ourselves. Staying out at the reef overnight is an experience hard to beat. |
